After heavy rain and thunderstorms rolled through the Chattahoochee River valley Monday morning leading to flash flooding.

Residents in at least one Ladonia home have been asked to leave their home after a lake flooded their home and caused a partial ground collapse in their backyard.

Overflowing creeks shutdown the southern portion of Uniroyal Drive in Opelika Monday morning. India Road also was also partially closed.

A Harris County woman says runoff from a drainage pipe is literally washing away her backyard.

The National Weather Service had issued a Tornado Watch for much of the area during the overnight and morning hours as storms rolled through. No tornadoes were reported despite personnel at Fort Benning being advised to take cover for a few minutes during the morning hours.

After the storms, concerns turned to flooding as storm runoff was finding its way out of designated waterways and on to roads, sidewalks and some buildings.

The First Alert Weather team says cooler weather will follow the front tonight, and a few more showers are possible on Tuesday due to lingering moisture and an unstable upper air trough passing overhead during the afternoon.  Once that moves past, we'll several sunny days with lower humidity and initially cool temperatures, with a nice warming trend by week's end.
