Leaders meet to plan for economic future

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Columbus 2025, a strategy group focused on the region's economic development met Tuesday for their first annual meeting.

Local government officials and area business representatives met to discuss plans to grow existing businesses, promote the Chattahoochee River front and explore future opportunities within the area.

"Columbus is doing well, we've got opportunity to grow jobs in this area. There is opportunity with tourism, we've got a lot of people coming to our area to visit. There's opportunity with aerospace, we've got opportunities with military. There is an initiative right now in Fort Benning centered around robotics in the military," says Billy Blanchard.

Blanchard also said he believes Georgia's growing film industry is an area of opportunity for the valley.
