Vietnam War veteran gets much-needed home repairs

COLUMBUS, Ga. - One veteran in Columbus was struggling to fight back tears, when he learned House of Heroes, with the help of Home Depot would fix up his home with much needed repairs for free.

Richard Ford, is a Vietnam War veteran. He says back in the 70s, he served as a Battalion Clerk for two years before being honorably discharged so that he could tend to his grandparents who had gotten sick.

Over the years, both he and his wife have become disable and they're no longer able to do activities that require hard work.

"It's a blessing you know you know when you can't do no more and people come out and take they time and give you a little love...you can't do anything but say thank you," says Richard Ford.

Representatives with Home Depot tell News 3 this free service is part of a three day project. We are told we will get notice once the bathroom and kitchen have been renovated.
