Auburn University defends the way it handled the situation after Lauren Burk's murder, but it plans to make some changes.

Our media partner, the Opelika-Auburn News, has a story about the university's AU Alert program.

University officials said they used the emergency notification system, based on school policies and the input from local authorities.

However, some have questioned why Auburn did not use the system sooner.
