Officials held a ceremony to open the new plant. Workers also detail parts for Cessna's line of single engine pistons, caravans and business jets. Assembly technicians Latojha Moultrie and Jerry Griffin say they are excited to be in the newer location. “We're glad to be in the new building we're excited and its a lot bigger then the old aircraft building with more room. Most assembly will be over here” Moultrie said. Griffin says anytime a big company can provide good paying jobs, it’s a blessing for the local economy. “Well it means alot, Columbus is growing and we're growing. And this means a lot of jobs
for people who need jobs, so its working out fine”. According to the Columbus chamber of commerce, over the next five years Cessna will add
150 more jobs. 670 Cessna workers are employed in Columbus. Worldwide Cessna employs more than 14-thousand people. The company’s two existing Columbus locations will remain in operation.
