Jay Seyfried says he still can't believe that one of his closest friends from high school is gone.
“She was just one of the biggest sweethearts. Friendly to everyone, outstanding and she loved to laugh,” he said.
Seyfried has known Lauren Burk for many years. They spent time together in high school in Marietta, Georgia. They even dated for a few months.
Seyfried spoke to Lauren just a few days ago, but hadn't seen her for a few months. He found out the news of her death early Wednesday morning.
“At first, we didn't believe it. We started calling all the people we knew around here, who knew Lauren and tried calling her boyfriend and some sorority sisters,” he said.
Jay says he needs some time to sort through the pieces of what exactly happened. Right now, he's just trying to mourn the loss of a friend.
