A Columbus family is mourning the loss of a loved one killed in Iraq this week. 26-year-old Sgt. Darren Dhanoolal was killed Monday after his vehicle was
hit by a roadside bomb. The fallen soldier was a member of the Third Brigade based out of Fort Benning. His wife 28-year-old *kynesha Dhanoolal from
Columbus tells News three her husbands death was a shock. The two were only married a little more than one year and had been making plans for their future.
kynesha says those plans came to a tragic halt early Monday morning soon after her husband sent her a text message from Iraq. “At 4 o'clock in the morning
he texted me and said I'm ok. I've just been really busy and we've been under a black out that's why I haven't been contacting you, but I love you. And that was
the last I heard from him and three hours after that he was killed in a roadside bomb” Kynesha said. Sgt Darren Dhanoolal was a combat engineer assigned to Fort Bennings 2nd battalion, 69th armor Regiment of the third brigade Heavy combat team. kynesha Dhanoolal tells News Three after her husbands military career was over, the couple was planning to go to college together then have children. Darren Dhanoolal was scheduled to come back home in three weeks.
