News 3 was the first to tell you that Registe was arrested Wednesday on the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean.
He was on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List for the murders of Bryan Kilgore and Randy Newton in Columbus last summer.
Thursday afternoon Muscogee County District Attorney Gray Conger told News Three that Michael Registe will not face the death penalty once he is extradited to Columbus.
Conger says he had to assure authorities in St. Maarten that the death penalty would not be sought before they would grant extradition.
Conger says he still does not know how long the extradition process could take.
