This morning, an investigator with the Phenix City Police Department received a call advising a child fitting the description of a missing child from Florida was on Brown Ave. in Columbus. The Phenix City Investigator contacted the Patrol Division and he along with Patrol officers responded to the address provided. They did find a 3 year old female child at the residence. The child did fit the description of Caylee Anthony, the child missing from Orange County Florida. Patrol officers requested assistance from the Robbery Homicide Unit. Investigators from Robbery Homicide along with Juvenile Services responded. After being advised of the facts, the child along with her guardian came to the Juvenile Services office so the child's idenity could be verified. Contact was made with the Orange County Sheriff's Department in Florida to advise them of our investigation. They fowarded us photo's of Caylee Anthony to help us in our investigation. Investigators were able to contact both parent's of the child and verify her idenity and verify that she was here with permission and with a family member that is caring for her. Both the mother and father were aware of the child being in Columbus. The mother and father of the child both live out of state. After verifying the child was in fact not Caylee Anthony, Orange County Sheriff's Office was contacted and notified. Our investigation in this matter is closed.
