Obama's VP announcement gets mixed emotions around town.

The Obama campaign opened up a second location in Columbus on Saturday.

They are setting up shop in the new Muscogee County Democratic Headquarters, but the staff says the campaign will still keep their South Columbus location on Third Avenue.

News 3 asked some volunteers what they thought of the new democratic ticket.

Clarice Billings was volunteering at the headquarters on Saturday morning.

She told News 3 it is full steam ahead from here.

“The suspense is over for the Obama campaign. We are ready to get started. We are fired up and were ready to go and get as many voters as we can register before the Oct deadline.”

The new campaign office will be open every day of the week from 9 AM to 9 PM. You can reach the Democratic Headquarters at 706-563-6364.

The Muscogee County Republican party added their two cents on the Obama Biden announcement.

News 3 asked Muscogee County's main Republican delegate, Rob Doll, his take on Obama's VP selection.

He told News 3, “It kind of takes Senator Obama off his message of change, because Joe Biden isn't much change, he even makes John McCain look young.”

Rob Doll and two alternate delegates will leave next Friday for the national GOP Convention in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, the Columbus delegates for the Democratic National Convention were preparing to leave today.

The Muscogee Democratic Party hosted a sendoff at their headquarters.

State Representatvie Calvin Smyre, Congressmen Sanford Bishop and his wife Vivian Creighton Bishop all spoke to the crowd.

They are the county's three delegates, and they told the crowd they were excited with Obama's decision for vice president.

News 3 asked Bishop how she thought Biden would be received at the convention.

“We do expect there are going be some people who are not happy about the decision, who are not happy Hilary wasn't even interviewed for it, but I think we will all end up in the same boat at the end of the convention.”

The Bishops say their leaving for the convention on Sunday and Representative Calvin Smyre says he was catching flight out on Saturday. The convention begins on Monday
