MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Officials at a federal prison camp in Louisiana say they expect to release former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman later Friday.
Prison spokeswoman Tammy Jarvis says Siegelman is still in custody in Oakdale, La. He can't be freed until officials there receive court documents granting his freedom.
But Jarvis says officials expect to receive those papers sometime Friday.
A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Siegelman can be released on bond as he appeals his conviction in a state corruption case. The one-time Democratic governor has been in custody nine months.
