This visit came just two days before Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that General David Petraeus has been tapped to become chief of the U.S. Central Command.
Petraeus is the top U.S. commander in Iraq. If he's confirmed by the senate, Petraeus would replace Admiral William Fallon, who said last month he was resigning.
