Today David Young is teaching his class about conscious, and he is doing it through the words of Mark Twain. Mr. Young is teaching these gifted sixth graders to read between the lines- a challenge to become an active part of the story.

Mr. Young’s goal is to make classic literature come alive. He says literature is not always just a nice story to read, but that authors really have teaching points hidden in their words.

However, Mr. Young hasn’t forgotten about the basics. Sixth grader Jacob Fuller admits that today his vocabulary quiz was on his mind.
