Mrs. Chavez says "I love kids, and I love taking them through the learning process and just seeing that light-bulb go on."

Her love for her students cannot be questioned. The third grade teacher was nominated for her second Golden Apple Award in her five-year teaching career.

Third grader Ashley Young says "she's just really sweet, she helps me with things that I don't t understand and stuff."

Chavez says she thinks every child deserves an opportunity to learn and she has a creative way of making sure that happens.

She says "I use different tactics, different teaching styles to you know meet each child's needs."
Ashley says" She makes learning fun by having all of these games and stuff."

Chavez feels like she is just fulfilling her duty as a teacher.
She says "it makes me feel very special and appreciated and I'm kind of shocked because I just feel like I'm doing my job like anybody else would do theirs."
