Cleanup is also underway in Chattahoochee County today. Once the storm passed through Russell and Stewart counties, it tore through Cusseta, tearing apart homes and spreading debris throughout the area.News Three On Your Side
A mobile home park on Highway 27 was hit hard leaving some residents literally picking up the pieces of their home.
Frank Loney says it happened in a flash. He was sitting in his mobile home, watching television the next thing he knew, water was pouring in his mobile home.
“I was sitting by the window and I noticed large hail coming down and then I saw sparks all over my trailer and I heard the other trailer roll on to me,” he said.
Chattahoochee County Sheriff Glenn Cooper says Loney’s 20 ton mobile home was swept from cement blocks, landing on Loney's home.
“Yes I'm lucky to be alive. If I would have been in the back bedroom, I don't think I would have made it,” he said.
During the storm, Loney says he wasn't worried about his safety, but he was worried about someone...his best friend and dog, "Baby".
With his best friend by his side, Loney says he'll be all right. Storms are just something he'll have to get used to.
“Things happen that you can't control and you've got to take it with a grain of salt and back up and start all over again,” he said.
Chattahoochee County Sheriff Glenn Cooper recently purchased the mobile home park about a month ago. He says the structure that fell on Frank Loney's was vacant at the time.
