Auburn University is getting ready to meet its rival, Alabama for the Iron Bowl. The University is closing the core of campus, that means the area will be closed
inside several streets including: Samford Avenue, Wire Road, Magnolia Avenue and College Street. The changes go into effect at six pm Tuesday night and will
stay closed until six Friday morning. Auburn University officials tell News Three the changes being made for the big game are just an added security measure. But some businesses near campus are hoping the street changes don't scare away customers. Don DeMent has been making sandwiches at Momma Goldberg's Deli for thirty years in Auburn. He owns the restaurant across the street from campus. "I think it will be a nuisance more than anything. I think Momma Goldberg's customers are going to find us, they've been doing it 30 years. But yes a nuisance and an aggravation yes". Said DeMent.
University spokesman Mike Clardy says the game changes are being implemented as a security measure due to large crowds expected to attend the game.
"We're trying to be proactive on how we take care of campus. No one will be here working, and students won't be attending classes. We want to make sure
our buildings and grounds are safe. So in the interest of security, we'll close the portals off and reopen friday morning at six". Said Clardy. Auburn and Alabama will kick off the Iron Bowl Saturday night at Jordan Hare stadium at seven central.
