The next presidential election is November 4, 2008 and the candidates are hitting the campaign trail in full force. News 3 is on your side with ways to get involved in the campaign locally.

If you are a Democrat in Alabama or Georgia you can visit the Democratic Party websites to register to volunteer, contribute, or peruse party information.

There are also local democratic groups. The Muscogee Democratic Party meets on the first Saturday of every month at 9a.m. at Ruth Anns Restaurant on Veterans parkway for breakfast and a speaker. You can also join them for a social every third Monday at 5:30 p.m. downstairs in the Goetchius House at 405 Broadway.

For more information on the Republican Party in Alabama and Georgia you can visit the Republican Party websites.

Locally you can meet with fellow republicans on the first Thursday of every month. The Russell County Republican club meets for dinner and speaker at 6-30 at Girlfriends Catering on 5th Avenue in Phenix City.

If you are a young political enthusiast don’t worry there are local organizations for you as well. For information on local chapters you can visit the Georgia and Alabama young democratic websites. Locally the Muscogee young republicans will meet on January 15 at the Columbus Public Library on Macon Road at 6 p.m.
