Our media partner, the Opelika-Auburn News, is reporting that, according to multiple sources, Courtney Lockhart, 22, of Smiths Station, is expected to be charged in the case.

Lockhart is in the Russell County Jail. Police told News 3 that Lockhart admitted to investigators that he committed at least five armed robberies in recent weeks.

Lt. Curtis Lewis with Phenix City Police referred questions about Lockhart's link to the Burk case to Auburn Police. However, Auburn Police would not comment.

The Opelika-Auburn News is reporting that according to the sources, investigators have recovered evidence connecting the suspect to the Auburn case.

A news conference is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Auburn City Council chambers.
