It's Wednesday and that means it's time to honor a great teacher with the MEA Golden Apple award.News 3 On Your Side
This week’s winner is Keneithia Cook from North Columbus Elementary.
‘Twas just days before winter break.
But unlike the poem, all these kids are stirring, even the teacher.
In hopes that Santa will come and fill them with cheer.
The kids are anxious for the holiday break and so is Mrs. Cook.
She stills needs to get her shopping done.
But Santa is for next week.
This week is about school.
“I just enjoy being around kids, everyday is something different and it's never the same thing you never know what they're going to say,” says Mrs. Cook.
Mrs. Cook's ability to keep these kids excited about school at a time when all the excitement seems to be geared towards next week is just one reason she's this week's winner of the golden apple.
“She's one of my favorite teachers, she's very kind,” says one student.
“She's made it fun for us and it’s been really good,” says another student.
“It makes me feel very happy especially around the holidays. That's an honor to know that you're thought of and people really appreciate what you're doing,” says Mrs. Cook.
A busy time of year for all.
But Mrs. Cook makes time for her students and puts them at the top of her list.
Merry Christmas to all and to all students and teachers, a nice winter break.
Mrs. Cook has been teaching for two years now.
She initially went to school to study pharmaceuticals but after taking an introduction class on education, she says she was touched.
