It’s Wednesday and the means it’s time to honor a great teacher with the MEA Golden Apple award.
This week’s winner is Debbie Lane from Clubview Elementary.
This year marks Mrs. Lane's 18th year of teaching.
She's taught pretty much all grade levels but says the fifth grade tugs at her heart a little more than the others.
Her fifth grade class at Clubview Elementary is full of heart and full of fun.
“She's just so nice we can't get enough of her,” says a student.
He's talking about fifth grade teacher Mrs. Lane.
She's the kind of teacher students can't get enough of.
She's fun, creative, and just has a great time in the classroom.
“She’s not like a lot of teachers I've met in my life, she doesn't just sit down and relax, she's always helping us,” says Tanner Whittington.
She makes it her job to connect with the kids.
“It was just natural, a lot of people say it's natural for me to work with the children maybe I'm just a small child myself,” says Debbie Lane.
Well, whatever it is, it's working.
Her students are learning and enjoying it.
That's why she is this week's winner of the golden apple.
It's all about engaging the students in this fun-filled classroom.
“Because they remember it with something if you do it, you're going to remember it, if you see it, hear it, you touch it, you're going to remember it,” says Lane.
Remember it and like it.
“For someone to realize the things we do and say thank you, is a great honor,” says Lane.
An honor her students say is well deserved.
“She's so interactive with the class, she never sits down and says no to somebody, she's always nice and we really love her,” says Whittington.
Mrs. Lane student taught at Clubview Elementary when she was in training to be a school teacher.
She says it's a blessing to be back where she started her career.
