Mrs. Wicker has been a kindergarten teacher at Lakewood Elementary School for the six years it has been open. She taught third and first grade before trying her hand at teaching kindergartners. She says "this is where I belong, and I love them, they are high maintenance, I won't lie, they're very high maintenance.News 3 on Your Side
How does she deal with the youngsters? Well, the parent volunteer that nominated her says that she has nothing but patience. Mrs. Wicker feels that it is a gift that God granted her with. Her love for her students is nothing to question. She let's her students know that she loves them before they leave the class each day.
Her love for her students (past and present) is so real that she says that when she sees students that have gone off to college or are out of school, she will give them a big hug. She says it embarrasses them but she still considers them her babies.
