A Phenix City outreach ministry and food pantry needs help. With the holiday season around the corner, the Lazarus Society is asking the community for
help to give food and clothing to those in need. The Lazarus Society provides assistance for people and families who are needy. Three days a week people can stop in and pick up clothing, food and in special cases get their rent and utilities paid. Director Mary Wilburn tells News Three this time of year the food pantry
gets empty quick. "Holidays are coming, we have people coming, they need Christmas for their children, they need clothing to wear and they need
funds to help pay the bills". Mary Wilburn says. The Lazarus Society counts on donations but does get some funding from the county and the Federal Government. The Lazarus Society is the largest outreach food pantry in Russell County. The agency has been helping people for ten years. If you would like to donate to this agency, you can drop off items at their building located at 607 16th street in Phenix City. Or you can call at (334) 298-8552
