A Phenix city woman loses everything Friday morning after a fire destroys her home and kills one of her dogs. But through her loss, there was one shining moment for Loretta Singletary. One of her most precious possessions was saved thanks to a total stranger. Tony Smith who is a contractor for Alabama power saw the flames around six in the morning on his way to work and came to the rescue. Smith smashed through a wall and pulled Singletary’s puppy to safety. Her other dog was trapped and could not be saved.”He came in there and pulled my dog off the porch and saved him. It made me feel great because I have my puppy, but I lost everything” Singletary Said. Tony Smith says he was just glad he could help. “Well the good thing that makes me feel good and very grateful is that I was in the right place at the right time to help the dog”. Loretta Singletary tells news three her dog that died actually helped to save her life. She heard the dog barking which helped her get out of the burning home in time.
