man was arrested in Phenix City for allegedly robbing a bank. Police say the bomb squad responded because the suspect threatened
to use an explosive device. The squad used a remote controlled robot to remove the device left behind by the suspect. The crime happened
at eleven this morning at the Wachovia bank on highway 280 in Phenix City. Police tell News Three 26 year old Benjamin Campbell told bank
tellers he had an explosive device and then demanded money. Thirty minutes later, Police captured Campbell at a laundromat in the 17
hundred block of 14th street. Police Chief Brian McGarr says he was pleased with how things worked. "It was good police work and a good
description from witnesses inside the bank led us to converge on the area. And we located the suspect vehicle and then we took the
subject into custody". Benjamin Campbell is charged with robbery. He is in the Russell County jail.
