A fire destroyed a pair of mobile homes Wednesday morning in Russell County. The blaze broke out around 8:30 am on Avalon Court in Seale Alabama. It took
firefighters about half an hour to get the blaze under control. Investigators with the Russell County Sheriff's office believe the mobile homes were being used
as Meth labs. Both trailers that sit just five feet apart burned to the ground. Police tell News three one structure was a residential home, and the other was used for storage. No one was home when the mobile homes caught fire, and no one was hurt. Josh Elston who lives across the street says he heard a loud bang right before the fire started. "Loud explosions, I looked outside and fire was everywhere, it was bad. The trailers were gone in 20 minutes. It was two of them back there that burned down. So it was pretty bad" says Elston. Investigators recovered four power generators and twelve propane tanks from the residence. Heath Taylor from the Sheriff's office belives the people living in the home were using the items to cook meth. "It looks like they had four to five generators running power into this location. And there were several items sitting around the burn area that leads us to believe it was a possible meth lab that exploded" said Taylor. Investigators tell News 3 Timothy Hurst lived in the mobile home. But he was in jail serving time on another offense when the fire broke out. Police aren't sure how the fire started.
