A familiar name assumes the Phenix city's top leadership post. Sonny Coulter defeated former city councilor Gene Oswalt 68 percent to 32 percent. This makes the fourth time Coulter will serve as Phenix city mayor. Coulter said winning for the 4th time was exciting and he says he's looking forward to a new challenge to lead the city. Coulter spent the evening with friends and his family at Booth's corner Café and grill in phenix city celebrating his victory. Coulter tells news three he's eager to begin his duties with the city. One thing he promises to do when he takes office is to bring economic development to Phenix city. But his first piece of business Tuesday night was to enjoy his victory. “But it's wonderful, every time it just seems to get better. One of the things that makes this even better this time is that I know what I'm getting into. I've had so much experience in this job and I don't think there will be any surprises for me when I go to the city. And I really look forward to hopefully a seamless transition as we move from one administration to another”. Sonny coulter defeated Gene Oswalt who is a former phenix city councilman. He tells news three he wishes Sonny Coulter well and congratulated him on his victory. Sonny Coulter was first elected to the office of Mayor in phenix city in 1989. He won again in 1992 and in 2001. Coulter will be sworn into office in November.
