Grand slam, ace, back-hand, first serve or volley. The terms, you hear from tennis players. But one other common tennis phrase has special meaning for some Special athletes in Columbus. Ad in is a common term used in a match to let players know the server is a point away from winning. News Three introduces you to some special tennis players who are training to be in the special Olympics. The Columbus Regional Tennis association is teaching the special needs Athletes how to play at Cooper Creek Park. The goal of the program called "ad-in" is to get the players ready to compete in the special Olympics in Atlanta. Micheal Thomas says he's ready to play. “Well I like hitting in tennis, hitting the balls. Its part of sport olympic tennis” Thomas said. Organizer Deby Caldwell with the this program tells news three this is her way of giving back, making sure everyone gets the chance to swing the racket and hit the ball on the court. “You know our purpose is to share and teach as many people as we can about tennis. And we mean that when we say everyone. The reason we have this program is to give our special population a chance to learn to play tennis”. Six athletes from the Ad-in program will compete in the special olympics, starting next saturday in Atlanta.
