We’re all feeling the pinch of soaring food prices. So Good Housekeeping’s Food Department has cooked up some ideas to help you keep your food costs down this summer. Today’s Good Housekeeping Report shows you how to shop wisely.

For more information visit goodhousekeeping.com.

Good Housekeeping says you can save on the cost of making burgers for a crowd buy shaping your own patties, rather than buying pre-packaged versions. If you wind up making too many, you can freeze the patties and save them for a future meal.

And Good Housekeeping suggests shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables at a local farmer’s market. Especially seasonal and specialty foods. Try to stock up on farmer’s market foods that are in peak season. Then you can freeze or store them.
