America Supports You is kicking off a text-messaging initiative for the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s an invitation to say “thank you” to soldiers who are away from home this holiday.

Here’s how it works.

Dial 8-9-2-7-9 on your cell phone.
Send a message of thanks. You’ll receive a reply from an active-duty soldier.

You can start texting Saturday, November 17, at 6:00 a.m. EST. It continues through midnight on Thanksgiving Day.
