Thousands remain without power after severe weather tore through Georgia. The severe weather killed two people in the state, downed trees and damaged homes and businesses. Georgia Power Company spokesman Jeff Wilson says 45,000 customers remain without electricity today, including 1,600 in the metro Atlanta area. Most of the outages are in Macon. Tornadoes were confirmed so far in Carroll, Laurens, Bibb, and Clayton counties. Governor Sonny Perdue also issued an emergency declaration in six Georgia counties. They are: Bibb, Carroll, Douglas, Jefferson, Johnson, and Laurens. The executive order allows state resources for response and recovery work.News 3 On Your Side
