If you’d like to drain the cost of your monthly water bill, Good Housekeeping has an idea on tap: install a low-flow showerhead. Today’s Good Housekeeping Report shows which showerheads offer good savings and good performance.

Since 1992, all new showerheads must have a flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute or lower. Older showerheads often had flow rates of 5.5 gallons per minute or more, so they used a lot more water.

Did you know that Americans use 1.3 trillion gallons of water each year just for showering? And if you have a dripping water faucet, fix it! One drop per second wastes 192 gallons of water per month.
