The 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team is preparing to return home. In the meantime, soldiers with the new Consolidated Transportation Assembly Area (CTAA) platoon will inspect and prepare the brigade's vehicles, storage containers and trailers for the trip to Kuwait.

“Our mission is to safely consolidate and redeploy all of the brigade’s equipment,” said 1st Lt. Kirby Rice, from Lineville, Alabama.

The 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team will redeploy dozens of pieces of equipment to Kuwait. It means that they must inspect, secure, and store the equipment.

“We had a lot of equipment, a few containers and ammunition to clear out,” Rice said. “Along with that, we had to get our CP (control point) set up. It’s been really busy. Our Soldiers have worked really hard.”

The 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division is from Fort Benning and has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom since March 2007.
