Auburn University Sports Press Release
AUBURN - The Auburn football team worked out for two hours Tuesday morning at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex as the Tigers continue preparations for Saturday’s Southeastern Conference opener against Mississippi State.
Tuesday’s practice opened with a heavy dose of special teams work, with much of the rest of practice focused on scout team preparation. The Tigers also did group drills and had the offense and defense work out against each other.
Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville addressed the media following Tuesday’s workout at his weekly press conference, and said that the team is looking forward to starting the conference season and continues to work hard.
“As a coach, you always look to see if your players are giving effort,” Tuberville said. “This team has shown more effort in practice and the first two games as any teams we’ve had.
“I’m real proud of the way some of these seniors have stepped up this week in practice. We had a setback, but the season is long. We can get much better. We’ll take it one day at a time.”
Auburn will be looking for its 15th consecutive win in an SEC opener when the Tigers meet Mississippi State Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT in a game that will be televised by Lincoln Financial Sports. Auburn has opened the last three SEC seasons with victories over the Bulldogs, including shutouts each of the last two seasons.
