ATLANTA (AP) - After the second week of gridiron action one classification gets a new No. 1 as all others shuffle about in the Associated Press high school prep football poll.
Carver-Columbus moves up a slot to No. 1 in Class AAA as Peach County falls to No. 7 after losing to Westside-Macon. LaGrange and Carrollton each jump three positions to Nos. 2 and 3 as Shaw falls to No. 8 after losing to Carver. Cartersville, losing to Buford, exits the rankings while making room for Flowery Branch to enter at No. 10.
Class AAAA retains Northside-Warner Robins at No. 1 but Tucker replaces Marist at No. 2 after a 30-0 shutout and forcing them to hang on at No. 9. East Paulding now has to share its position as Ware County enters the poll at No. 10.
Roswell and Norcross continue at Nos. 1 and 2 in Class AAAAA while Tift County moves up to claim No. 3 after Peachtree Ridge falls to No. 10 with a loss to Grayson. Camden County’s defeat has them exiting the rankings as Stephens County advances a couple of notches to take their place at No. 4.
The big news in Class A rankings are ties and newbies. Brookstone and Bremen enter the poll at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively, but nobody leaves because Clinch County and Commerce share the No. 9 spot in a three-way tie. No. 1 Lincoln County, No. 2 Athens Academy and No. 3 Wilcox County continue for another week.
