Mooresville, NC - Columbus State culminated a week of frustration with yet another unexplainable round of golf on Wednesday at the Division II Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional, shooting a team total of 307. The seventh place finish keeps the Cougars from advancing to the NCAA Division II Golf Championship for the first time in six years.

All-American Andrew Georgiou finally found his stroke on Wednesday, firing a 71, and was joined in red numbers by teammate Kyle Albright with a 70. After that, the rest of the Cougar squad struggled mightily in the final round with Michael Hicks and Hunter Harper each carding rounds of 83 and JP van der Walt ballooning to a score of 86. Albright was the top finisher overall for the Cougars, getting into the top 10 with a total of 221 (+5). Georgiou's final round jumped him into a tie for 16th at 223 (+7). Hicks tied for 30th (232), van der Walt tied for 38th (239) and Harper finished alone in 41st (245).

GCSU shot a final round 292 and won the event it lead from wire to wire. Niclas Johansson led the charge with a final-round 69 to win medalist honors as the Bobcats placed three golfers in the top six individually. USC Aiken finished second, Newberry third and Clayton State fourth. Those four schools join Atlantic Region winner and tournament host Belmont Abbey in moving on to the NCAA Division II Championship in Houston, TX, next week.
