Lady Cougars Get Back on Winning Track

CSU got back on the winning note on Friday with a 74-
64 victory over Tusculum at the Lady Saints Classic. Maria Grimes led the charge with 24 points and Hali Moore added 14 points and snatched seven rebounds as CSU improved to 2-1 on the season.

The Lady Cougars went into the locker room with a 47-35 lead courtesy of a Grimes' triple. CSU shot a blistering 56% from the floor in the first half on 18-32 shooting.

CSU reached its biggest lead of the night (58-39) as Turelle Jones drained a three-pointer with 14:13 remaining in the game. Tusculum got as close as nine points, before eventually losing by 10 points to the Lady Cougars. CSU shot just 7-26 (27%) in the second half.

Ashley Stafford scored nine points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for CSU. Tusculum had four players in double figures, led by Shantae Shank's 16 points. Ashli Oliver added 12 points for the Lady Pioneers.

CSU (2-1) shot 43% (25-58) for the game and held a 42-27 rebounding advantage. CSU made 18-26 free-throws. The Lady Cougars committed 25 turnovers.

Tusculum (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season, shooting 42% (23-55) from the floor. The Lady Pioneers struggled at the line, making just 12-20 (60%).

Both teams are back in action Saturday afternoon in the final day of the Lady Saints Classic, hosted by North Georgia College and State University. CSU takes on Carson- Newman at 2 p.m. ET.
