Lady Cougars Roll Past USC Aiken, 6-0

Columbus, GA - #6 Columbus State continued its winning ways on Saturday with a 6-0 shutout over USC Aiken on Senior Day at the Soccer Complex. The Lady Cougars scored three goals in each half and held the Pacers without a shot on the afternoon. Five CSU seniors from its original signing class were honored before the game. With the win, CSU improved to 12-3-1 overall and 6-0 in league play. USC Aiken fell to 4-11-1, and 1-5-1 in the PBC.

Kellie Myles got the scoring started as she booted home a corner kick from Jill Walthall in the 27th minute. Myles scored again, this time from Kate Walton in the 31st minute, as CSU went up 2-0. Stephanie Parrish added an unassited goal in the 39th minute to give CSU a 3-0 into the locker room.

It didn't get much better for USC Aiken in the second half as CSU kept the action in Pacer territory and added three more goals. Hannah Ospina scored the fourth goal at the 49:52 mark. Kassy Boivin was fouled in the box, and put the penalty kick past USC Aiken goalkeeper Nicole Westphal for the fifth goal. Gina Goforth ended the scoring in the 67th minute as she took a corner kick from Lindsey Morgan and beat the goalie for a 6-0 CSU win.

CSU domintated play, outshooting the Pacers 30-0. The Lady Cougars also held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.

CSU travels to face Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday afternoon, while USC Aiken has a non-conference game with Coker on Tuesday evening.
