Columbus State's Isabel Speer has been named Peach Belt Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week in an announcement by the league office on Monday. The senior runner led CSU to its second consecutive meet win on Saturday in the Jaguar Invitational in Augusta.CSU Sports Information
Speer, a native of Queretaro, Mexico, posted her best finish of the year on Saturday, coming in second place in the 15-team event in Augusta. She posted a time of 25:07 over the 6K course and was less than a second behind the meet winner. She edged freshman teammate Ashley Arnold by just over a half-second and helped CSU continue its strong start to the 2007 season.
The second-place finish was her second such finish in a row and made her the top PBC runner in the event.
She and her CSU teammates will run in Saturday's annual Auburn Invitational at Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, AL. The meet will get underway at 8:30 a.m. ET.
