Decatur, GA – Cody Carter launched a solo homerun in the second inning and then held the Northern all-stars scoreless from the mound as the defending Little League World Champions, Warner Robins American, defeated Northern by a score of 2-0. The loss virtually eliminates Northern from advancing in the tournament. Chandler Humphries started and took the loss for Northern, striking out three in four innings of work.

Carter led off the second with a line shot over the leftfield fence and later in the inning, Brandon Cauley doubled in Justin Jones who singled following Carter's homerun to complete the scoring for Warner Robins American. Northern could manage only two hits off Carter who effectively used his off-speed pitches to keep the Northern batters at bay. Robin Geven singled with two outs in the first but did not advance. In the third, Matt Jones singled with one out and Eliot Turner followed with a walk. But Carter got a strikeout and infield fly out to end the threat. Carter then retired the last 12 batters he faced for the complete game victory, striking out six for the game.

While Northern's bats were silent, the District 8 champs turned in several clutch defensive plays to keep Warner Robins American from adding to their score. Northern turned inning-ending double plays in the first and fourth. Bennett Wilson came on to pitch a scoreless fifth and sixth, striking out four.

Northern wrapped up pool play with a 2-2 record after victories over Masters City and Rabun County and losses to Murphey Candler and Warner Robins American. Pool play continues tomorrow and the semifinals begin Thursday with the championship set for Friday at 7:00 PM at Shoal Creek Park.
