A flash flood watch has been issued for East Central Alabama from Monday morning through Tuesday morning. The watch includes Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Lee, Macon, Pike, and Russell Counties. The remnants of Fay will continue to circulate rainbands through Alabama that are capable of delivering periods of heavy rain. Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 5 inches are anticipated with locally heavier amounts of 8 inches possible in some locations. This could lead to significant flash flooding in some areas. Many flood deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to drive your vehicle through water on roadways. One foot of water can easily move your vehicle. When encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown. A flash flood watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding conditions. Monitor future forecasts and be prepared to take action if necessary.
