A wind advisory is in effect from 8 AM to 8 PM EDT on Monday for North and Central Georgia including the cities of Columbus, Lumpkin, and Americus.

Winds will increase Monday morning across North and Central Georgia as a dry cold front exits the forecast area and high pressure builds in from the west. Northwest winds will increase to between 20 and 25 mph with some gusts near 30 mph. Along the ridges, winds will be higher with gusts possibly reaching as high as 35 mph. Winds should diminish Monday evening.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph or wind gusts of at least 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can
make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
