Some parts of the News 3 viewing area may see sub-freezing temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Many people have done spring planting in their yards and gardens over the past few weeks. Here are a few tips for protecting your plants from frost:

Water your plants before sunset. This will release moisture into the air and will make the air a bit warmer.

Set up an electic fan near your plants or garden. This will mix the air and prevent colder air from settling near the ground.

Cover your plants before sunset. Create a frame around the plant and cover it with materials that will allow for circulation, such as cloth or newspaper. If you cannot create a frame, drape the cloth directly over the plant.

If you have potted plants, pots should also be wrapped in something like burlap or bubble wrap as heat can escape from the pot overnight.
