A tornado watch is in effect for much of East Central Alabama and the edge of West Central Georgia until 10 PM EDT. The watch includes Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Lee, Macon, Pike, and Russell Counties in Alabama as well as Chattahoochee, Clay, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Troup, and Webster Counties in Georgia. Isolated tornadoes, thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph, and dangerous lightning are all possible with storms that will move through the area in association with the fringes of the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and near the watch area. People in the watch area should be alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and for any future warnings that may be issued.
