SAD UPDATE: Auburn family heartbroken over death of kitten, shot outside their home

AUBURN, Ala. - AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) -  An East Alabama family is heartbroken over the shooting death of their rescue kitten named Wee, who was shot outside their Auburn home last week.

Auburn's Grace Morris and her family live in Moores Mill.  Morris says last Wednesday, January 31st, she let the kitten outside, a few minutes later she heard the kitten screaming. When Morris went outside she saw Wee was bleeding and appeared to have been shot. Morris rushed the animal to her veterinarian, who did emergency surgery. Despite their best efforts, Wee passed away Tuesday night, 5 days after being shot.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news on Wee's passing with you. She fought so hard the last several days. However, complications from her recent transfusion were insurmountable. Our deepest thanks go out to Moores Mill Animal Hospital" posted Morris.

The Morris family has filed a report with Auburn police, who are still investigating the incident.
