Police arrest suspect in Phenix-Girard Bank robbery

UPDATE

04/14/17 7:50 p.m. -- Phenix City police has made an arrest Friday evening into the bank robbery that occurred at Phenix-Girard Bank Friday morning.

Police arrested 35-year-old Joshua Taylor of Phenix City at his home around 6 p.m. Friday without incident.

According to the Phenix City Police Department's Facebook page, an undisclosed amount of currency was taken during the robbery and has since been recovered.


PHENIX CITY. Ala. -- News 3 confirms Phenix City police are on the lookout for a suspect after the Phenix-Girard Bank was robbed Friday morning.

An employee confirms there was a robbery at the bank on 13th Street, but says no one was hurt.

A Phenix City Police Department press release says the robbery started at about 10:18 a.m. when a man entered and handed a threatening note to one of the bank tellers demanding money. The man was able to take an "undisclosed amount of cash", then ran off before getting into a small black or blue 4-door car. The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling east on 13th Street.

Police say no further vehicle description is available at this time. The suspect shown in surveillance photos is a heavy-set, white man with shoulder length brown hair.

WRBL understands there is a "Be On The Lookout" bulletin sent by the Phenix City Police Department to neighboring law enforcement.
