LaGrange police searching for kidnapping suspect

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The LaGrange Police Department is searching for a kidnapping suspect.

According to a release, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a home in the 900 block of Whitesville Street in LaGrange around 9:45 on May 15, 2018.

When officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the victim. The woman was suffering from several visible injuries to her neck and face. The woman stated that an argument between she and her boyfriend Laron Mathis became physical and she was assaulted by Mathis.

During this assault the woman was able to flee to a neighbor’s residence and the police were contacted and Mathis fled the scene in the woman’s vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the woman had been strangled by Mathis and held against her will inside her home for some time before she was able to escape and contact police.

The woman was treated and released from Well Star West Georgia Medical Center.

Police say at this time Laron Mathis has several outstanding arrest warrants in reference to this incident.

Mathis will be charged with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping,  False Imprisonment, Criminal Trespass, Auto Theft, Interference with 911 call.
