BREAKING: Authorities release identity of Opelika shooting victim who died

OPELIKA, Al. - Opelika Shooting Death  

Opelika Police received a 911 call at approximately 01:07 AM Saturday morning of a person being shot at BJ’s Lounge on Staley Avenue in Opelika.  Upon arrival by officers, Opelika Fire and Rescue and EAMC EMS, 35-year-old Carnelious Richmond, of Opelika, was found inside the lounge suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Richmond was rushed via ambulance to the emergency room of East Alabama Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the emergency room and was pronounced dead at 01:21 AM.  A postmortem examination at the medical examiner’s office of the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery is planned.
