Hogansville officer resigns amid investigation

HOGANSVILLE, Ga (WRBL) - The Hogansville Police Department confirms one of its officers is the subject of an active criminal investigation with the Coweta Sheriff's Office. 

On February 2nd, police say Officer Daniel Kemp was taken into police custody in Hogansville and immediately relieved from Duty and placed on administrative leave. 

As part of an administrative investigation with Hogansville P.D., several items of property were recovered, including a plastic bag of suspected marijuana. 

Officer Kemp resigned Thursday. 

His resignation has since been reported to the Georgia Peace Officers standards and training council --as resigned under investigation. 

Kemp has been with Hogansville P.D. since February 2016.
