Columbus Police say a local TV anchor was charged with simple battery Friday morning following a family dispute.

Lt. Consuelo Askew, of the Columbus Police Department, says Desiree Armstrong Perez, known under her professional name as Dee Armstrong, and her son got into an argument.

According to the police report during the altercation, Perez stated her son pushed her to the wall. Police say after speaking with her son, he says Mrs. Perez punched him in the face on the left side of his cheek.

Police say due to the fact that Ronie Perez had sustained minor injuries to his left cheek, Mrs. Perez was charged with simple battery family violence.

They say there were no witnesses to this incident, so they don't know which action happened first.

Police say this happened around 4:17 Friday morning.

Lt. Askew says Mrs. Perez was transported to the Muscogee County Jail.
