Muscogee Co. assistant principal arrested on DUI charge

COLUMBUS, Ga. - A Muscogee County assistant principal was arrested after police say a car traveled through a barricade into the Spring Fling pedestrian walk way.

42-year-old Eric Grigsby was identified as the driver of the car. He was arrested Sunday, April 8.

According to a police report, Grigsby stated that he was attempting to turn around and didn't realize he was in the fair grounds. The officer stated that he observed that Grigsby's eyes were glossy and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown alcoholic beverage.

Grigsby stated he had consumed a beer or two prior to operating the car.

The officer performed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test, walk and turn test, and one leg stance test. Grigsby failed the walk and turn and one leg stance test.

When asked to blow his breath in the alcho-sensor, Grigsby refused. Grigsby was arrested shortly after by officers.

Grigsby did not consent to a breathalyzer test at the Muscogee County Jail on the Intoxylizer 9000.

He will be charged with driving under the influence and open container.

Eric Grigsby is listed as the Assistant Principal at Waddell Elementary School on the Muscogee County schools website.
